Composition : rajlaxmi lick blocks are recommended in salt deficiency cases. Major content of lick is sodium chloride which is most essential electrolyte. It also contain trace minerals like iron, copper, cobalt, iodine. It is very useful for overcoming salt hunger. It acts as a sialogue because it is very tasty to cattle. Cattle licks it with interest. It also helps in correcting mineral deficiency disorder to some extent. Even though there is lack of firm evidence that naturally occurring salt deficiency causes illness in cattle, but it can occur in some circumstances. Evidence of deficiency is the level of sodium in serum. Normal value is 139 meq/litre. When level falls to 137 meq/litre, licking of salt brick begins. Signs are intense when it falls below 135 meq/litre. In cattle a daily intake of 1. 5g sodium and 5 gm chloride is necessary for growth. Experimentally induced sodium deficiency in animal causes anorexia, reduce water intake and reduced weight gain. Chemical composition:

cobalt deficiency in diet is characterized by anorexia and wasting copper: in ruminants deficiency of copper causes interference with tissue oxidation resulting in to wide range of clinical manifestations including associated with anaemia and demyelination in the central nervous system.

iodine: the cardinal sign of iodine deficiency is goiter. It may cause neonatal mortality, with alopecia and visible and palpable enlargement of thyroid gland in some animals. Iron deficiency in the diet causes anemia and failure to tissues. It is most likely to occur in young ones.
